Lenier Dominguez losses match to Indian counterpart

Jan 14, -- Cuban GM Leinier Domínguez fell yesterday in the 3rd round of the 76th edition of the prestigious Tata Steel Tournament Masters, taking place in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands.

Dominguez was defeated by his Indian counterpart Pentala Harikrishna in 75 moves of a Sicilian defense, Opocensky variant, a day when almost all matches ended up in draws; the other winner was Italian Fabiano Caruana, who beat Russian Serguei Karjakin in 75 moves of a Catalan opening.

After these results, Armenian Levon Aronian occupies the top with 2 points as well as other 5 chess players, but Cuban Dominguez is located in the 10th place of 12 contestants, with 1 point, as a result of the draws in his first 2 matches.

Today is a resting day, after which Dominguez will face Caruana with white pieces on Wednesday.
