Havana, April 28 (RHC)-- Brazilian theologian Frei Beto toured eastern Santiago de Cuba, where he paid tribute to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery.

Beto exchanged with hundreds of Santiago residents at the Heredia Theater. He spoke extensively about his personal friendship with the late Cuban revolutionary leader.

At the Santa Ifigenia cemetery, Frei Beto also paid tribute to National Hero José Martí, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes --the Father of the Cuban Homeland-- who initiated Cuba's independence struggle against Spanish colonialism in 1868, and to brothers Frank and Josué País --two martyrs of the final stage of the Cuban war for independence, which ended with the 1959 Revolution.
