Kuala Lumpur, February 16 (RHC-Bernama) -- Malaysia and Cuba, which established diplomatic relations in 1975, now boast successful cooperation in various fields.
Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Ruben Perez Valdez said cooperation between the two countries, such as in biotechnology, education, health and at international organizations, has further strengthened their bilateral relations.
"The relationship between Malaysia and Cuba has been very good and successful these past 40 years. We have had close cooperation without any interruption. We also respect each other and both parties do not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries," the Cuban ambassador told reporters after attending an event on Monday celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations Between Cuba and Malaysia at the Malaysia Tourism Center, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.
Perez Valdez also praised the decision 40 years ago of Malaysia's second Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein to reach out to Cuba and establish diplomatic ties. In addition, he expressed hope to continue exploring other mutually beneficial sectors in the future.
