Bayamo, January 11 (RHC) — A documentary film on Cuban heroine Celia Sánchez was premiered on Sunday, January 10th in the Cuban province of Granma.

Produced by Mundo Latino, with the script by Servando Valdés and directed by Ariel Prieto-Solís, the 57-minute film presents an accurate, inspiring recollection of the life and work of Celia, one of the nation’s most outstanding figures.

The documentary presents the mischievous child, the sober adolescent and the bold, intelligent woman, capable of disguising herself to trick the dictatorship’s soldiers and hiding in a field of spiny marabou to evade them.

The film also portrays Celia’s critical contribution as the underground combatant who organized the human network needed to save a number of revolutionaries after the landing of Granma yacht, and how she became the first woman incorporated into the Rebel Army.

After its premier in the city of Bayamo, the documentary was set to be broadcast Monday on national television to commemorate the 36th anniversary of Celia's death -- on January 11th, 1980.
