Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum, who in just over two months in office has shown concrete signs of fulfilling her campaign promises, will end 2024 with a high level of popular acceptance.
Opinion polls show that the president has a 76% approval rating, with no significant differences by age, gender, or educational level of those surveyed.
The continuity of social programs implemented during the administration of her predecessor, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and the implementation of other projects are supported by a large part of the population.
The initiatives developed in favor of the elderly have had a great impact. In fact, the first female president of Mexico has a very positive image among this sector of the population.
And for 2025, new programs have already been announced that also focus on the elderly. For example, the Pensión Mujeres Bienestar will be implemented, which consists of a bimonthly economic benefit of three thousand pesos.
This project, which will take into account indigenous communities, will benefit women between the ages of 60 and 64. It aims to recognize a lifetime of work by this segment of the population, which has historically been burdened with domestic and family care work, activities that are often undervalued.
In addition, Salud Casa por Casa will provide medical care to the elderly and people with disabilities.
This program will bring specialists to their homes for consultations, check-ups and prescriptions.
It will prevent these people from having to travel to health centers and will lead to the strengthening of preventive medicine and primary care.
All of the initiatives implemented by the Mexican government, under the presidency of Claudia Sheinbaum, reaffirm its commitment to society as a whole, and especially to the most disadvantaged sectors.
