Giselle and Don Quixote set to close Art of Cuba Festival at the Kennedy Center

Cuban National Ballet in Don Quixote

Washington, May 19 (RHC) -- The Cuban National Ballet Company, directed by Alicia Alonso, will close the Arts of Cuba Festival with seven shows at the Kennedy Center’s Opera House May 29/June 3.

Two emblematic pieces of the company’s repertoire are included in the program: Giselle and Don Quixote, from May 29 to June 3 at the Opera House, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ main stage, marking the 40th anniversary of the Cuban dance ensemble’s debut in the United States at the arts institution in 1978.

The performances are part of an extensive tour of the US, including the cities of Chicago, Tampa and Saratoga Springs.

The first of three shows of Don Quixote by the Cuban National Ballet Company took place on May 18th at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago, danced by Viengsay Valdés and Patricio Revé. The remaining two performances in Chicago are scheduled to be performed by Sadaise Arencibia and Raúl Abreu and Grettel Morejón and Dani Hernández.

Sadaise Arencibia and Raúl Abreu will dance the main roles of Giselle and Albrecht during the unique performance of the classic at the David A. Strazz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa Florida, May 23rd.

The above mentioned dancers will be accompanied by other outstanding performers, such as Ernesto Díaz, Ginett Moncho, Rafael Quenedit, Claudia García, Félix Rodríguez, Ariel Martínez and Ely Regina.

The last stage of the tour includes three presentations of Giselle at the Saratoga Springs Center for the Performing Arts Jun 6/8, in New York State, a huge stage with a capacity for more than 25 thousand spectators.
