The organizing committee of the Boleros de Oro International Festival announced Wednesday that the event’s 31st edition, originally set for June 25 to the 28, has been postponed due to the situation generated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the website of the National Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC) has reported.

Likewise, the organizing committee urged Cubans to comply with measures adopted by the country’s authorities to control and stop the spread of the deadly disease.

The Association of Musicians at UNEAC, which sponsors the Boleros Festival, thanked Cuban and foreign bolero musicians, as well as lovers of the music genre, who were looking forward to attending the festival, held in Cuba every other year.

The 30th edition of the International Boleros Festival, held in 2018, was dedicated to bolero female singers, specially Beatriz Márquez, winner of the National Music Prize in 2015, who was then celebrating 50 years of artistic life.

Celebrated for the first time in Havana in 1987, the International Boleros de Oro Festival celebrates the popular bolero genre, which has also influenced culture in other countries of our region, as well as in nations as far away as Spain and Japan.
