4th Matanzas Jazz Festival
Havana, April 7 (RHC)-- The 4th Matanzas Jazz Festival for the promotion and development of Cuban jazz, will take place online from April 29th through May 2nd, coinciding with World Jazz Day, celebrated every year on April 30th.
The event is sponsored by the Cuban Ministry of Culture, the Cuban Music Institute, the Provincial Culture Office in Matanzas province, the Matanzas Office of the Association of Writers and Artists (UNEAC), the Hermanos Saiz Association of Young Artists, among other institutions.
On this occasion, the event pays tribute to African influence on Cuban jazz and Cuban music, in general.
With the slogan ‘El jazz saluda al son’ or (jazz salutes son), the event is also dedicated to Matanzas musician Arsenio Rodríguez on his 110th birthday anniversary.
Participating artists, who will delight Cuban jazz lovers with concerts online include Bobby Carcasés, José maría Vitier, Orlando Valle ‘Maraca’, Yasek Manzano, Alejandro Falcón and his band Cubadentro, Conexión Cubana, Failde orchestra, Gastón Joya and his New Cuban Trio, Janio Abreu and his band Aires de concierto, Afrocuba, among others.
Also, in the framework of the 4th Matanzas Jazz Festival, Alejandro Falcón and Muñequitos de Matanzas will present their latest album in DVD format entitled “Jazz con Guaguancó”.
