Coasts & the ocean protection

Havana, June 10 (RHC)-- A group of renowned Cuban musicians have joined a US NGO in a new album that seeks to raise people’s awareness on the need to preserve the oceans.

Singers Omara Portuondo, Daymé Arocena, Alain Pérez and Lázaro Armenteros are all featured in this new musical production entitled ‘En el mar’ (In the sea), which includes 14 classical tunes from the 1950s and 60s that spread eco-friendly messages.

“We want people to appreciate the music and feel inclined to take action, support our campaign and thus, contribute to sea pollution solutions,” said Marce Gutierrez-Graudins, director of Azul, the NGO that produced the album, in an interview from California.

Founded in 2011, Azul is a Bay Area-based NGO that works with the Latino community to protect coasts and the ocean.

The new album is as part of activities on the 10th anniversary of the NGO. The tracks are available on the organization’s official webpage, and as of June 17th also on digital platforms like Spotify and Amazon.

The album features several tropical genres like bolero, ballad and son, among others.
