Che fotografo

Ciego de Ávila, Oct. 13 (RHC)-- The traveling exhibition ‘Che photographer’ has arrived in central Ciego de Ávila province, where it is now on display at the gallery of the Council on Fine Arts, as part of the permanent tribute of the Cuban people to Argentinian-Cuban guerrilla commander Ernesto Guevara de la Serna ‘Che’.

The exhibition comprises a total of 277 snapshots taken by Che himself at different moments throughout his life. This way, visitors can appreciate Che in his travels worldwide, and others he took here in Cuba, before and after the 1959 Revolution.

Norma Rodríguez Derivet, president of the National Council on Fine Arts said that the exhibition is sponsored by the National Council of Fine Arts in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and the Che Guevara Studies Center. She noted that, for years, the exhibition has been traveling the world, mainly across Latin America.

In Cuba, the photography exhibition was first inaugurated on October 8th, 2020, in Santa Clara, on occasion of the 53th anniversary of the capture and subsequent assassination of Che in Bolivia. It has since traveled to Cienfuegos and then, Sancti Spíritus before its arrival now in Ciego de Avila.

Rodríguez Derivet said the idea is to take the exhibition all across the country, so that people, particularly young Cubans learn more about the life and work of the legendary guerrilla commander -- one of the most iconic Cuban Revolution figures.
