World Travel Awards
Havana, October 24 (RHC)-- Cuba was awarded the Caribbean's Leading Cultural Destination 2021 by the World Travel Awards.
According to information published by Cubadebate, several Cuban facilities and entities also received these awards, considered the Oscars of tourism. Hotel Nacional de Cuba won the award for Best Hotel in Cuba, while the Presidential Lorca Suite at the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski was recognized as Best Suite.
In the category of Best Holiday Resort, the award went to Melia Las Dunas in Cayo Santa Maria. The tour operator Inbound Cuba, the travel agency Cuba Direct and CubaForTravel (integrated travel management to Cuba) were awarded as Leaders in the Caribbean region.
Cuba was selected as the Caribbean's Leading Cultural Destination 2021 from among six nominees, including also Barbados, Bermuda, Jamaica, Martinique and Puerto Rico. The country won nominations also in two other categories: Caribbean's Leading Adventure Tourism Destination and Caribbean's Leading Dive Destination.
Established in 1993, World Travel Awards is the leading authority that recognizes and rewards excellence in travel and tourism.
The results follow a year-long search for the world’s top travel, tourism and hospitality brands. Votes were cast by travel industry professionals and the public, with the nominee gaining the most votes in a category named as the winner.
