An exhibition of 23 photographs of Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), as seen by his son Alex, was opened to the public at the museum of the fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña

Havana, August 10 (RHC) An exhibition of 23 photographs of Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), as seen by his son Alex, was opened to the public on Friday at the museum of the fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña, in this capital, reflecting the last years of the life of the commander-in-chief.

Intimate Portrait, as the exhibition is called, shows Fidel with personalities who visited him in the privacy of his home and who were his friends, such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Nobel Prize in Literature, Ignacio Ramonet, journalist, and the Brazilian friar Frei Betto.

The meetings of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution with the presidents of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, respectively, and with Hugo Chávez Frías (1954-2013), then president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, also appear in the exhibition and constitute a memory of his father.

"The intention is not to show the great revolutionary leader that he is, but the friend, the host, the advisor who always had his doors open to offer affection and humanity," the photographer commented exclusively to ACN.

Along with the images is also exhibited the jacket, on loan from the Museum of the Revolution, which Fidel wore during the meeting in Altos de Mompié, in the Sierra Maestra, on May 3 and 4, 1958, where the strategies were drawn, among others, for the preparation of the rebel forces and the confrontation with the military offensive of the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958) that was approaching.

The exhibition is not only a tribute to one of the greatest men of the 20th century, but also a look under the attentive and close lens of a son, and will be open to the public from Monday to Sunday during the center's regular hours, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., after the Cañonazo ceremony (Source: ACN).
