US photographer, Rebekah Bowman, says that the economic, financial and trade blockade against Cuba is anachronistic. The artist made the statement after the opening of her exhibit Portrait of the Cuban Ballet School in the Cuban capital.

In Havana’s José Marti Memorial, the artist noted, however, that many people in the United States don't know that coercive measure against the Caribbean nation. Bowman said that her exhibition Portrait of the Cuban Ballet School is aimed at opening a door between the two peoples and letting Americans know about the beauty, strength and resistance of Cubans and the huge richness of their culture, practically ignored by most of her fellow countrymen and women.

Delivering the opening speech, Cuban National Ballet Company historian, Miguel Cabrera, highlighted that Portrait of the Cuban Ballet School shows the sweat and tears involved in the daily practice of the art form, how professors sculpture future dancers, the dynamics of classes and rehearsals and the existence of a generation that will honor its founders.

School Director, Ramona de Saa, praised the art and persistence of Rebekah, who, for three years, took hundreds of photographs, a group of which she donated to the School, adding that Bowman was able to capture the history of the institution, the present and future of the School, the doors of which will always be opened for her.
