The most important Cuban lyrical theater work, the zarzuela Cecilia Valdés, will be back at the historical Martí Theater in late March.
This time the National Lyrical Theater will close ranks with the National Concert Band and the JJ Folk and Traditional Dance Company to mark the 83rd anniversary of its premier on the same stage on March 26th, 1932, and to pay tribute to maestros, Gonzalo Roig, José Sánchez de Arcilla and Agustín Rodríguez.The "zarzuela" (sort of Cuban operetta) will be to the original score composed by maestro Gonzalo Roig. Music direction by Igor Corcuera, staging by Juan Rodolfo Amán and general direction by Roberto Chorens. Performances are set for March 28 and 29.
