Barranquilla, July 30 (RHC)-- Cuba's Yarisley Silva, Olympic silver medalist in London 2012, beat Venezuela's Robeilys Peinado to win the women's pole vault gold at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Colombia.

With a jump of 4.70 meters, Yarisley beat her own record of 4.60 meters, set four years ago when she won the gold at the Veracruz Games.

Venezuela’s Peinado reached a mark of 4.50 meters, while another Cuban, Lisa Solomon, took the bronze, clocking a personal best of 4.10 meters.

Cuba is expected to snatch most gold medals in boxing. The island came in second in baseball, after it defeated Colombia three runs to one on Sunday night. 

At this year's Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Cuba is attending with a team of more than seven hundred, of whom 538 are athletes and 133 are coaches.  The island was expected to participate in 359 of the 450 events in competition.
