Havana, August 27 (RHC) – The Sancti Spiritus Roosters are still at the top of the leader-board of the Cuban Baseball Series after defeating the Mayabeque Tornadoes 3-2, in a match in which Yunier Mendoza connected his 2000th hit in Cuban baseball. The Rooster´s first baseman reached the milestone with a Home-Run in his home ballpark Jose Antonio Huelga, in Sancti Spiritus.

The Roosters have now 10 wins and 3 losses and now they have a 2-game advantage over their closest rival, the Camaguey Bulls. The Bulls were forced to cancel their Monday evening match against the Pinar del Vegueros due to the rain.

The Ciego de Avila Tigers defeated 12-1 the Matanzas Crocodiles, the Cienfuegos Elephants beat 7-3 the Isla de la Juventud Pirates, the Holguin Cubs defeated the Granma Sorrels 10-0, Santiago de Cuba Wasps defeated the Industriales Lions 6-1, and the match between Villa Clara Azucareros and the Artemisa Hunters got suspended in the 8th inning of a 0-run tie.
