Cuban sports mourns the death of Giraldo Gonzalez
Havana, August 28 (RHC/JIT) .- The main authorities of Cuban sports today lamented the death of Giraldo González, baseball glory.
"The news moves #Beisbol and #DeporteCubano in general: Giraldo González passed away, whose hierarchy grew with the modesty and simplicity that never left him," Inder president Osvaldo Vento Montiller wrote on his Twitter account.
"Another low blow from the #COVID-19 in the bosom of #InderCuba, which accompanies family and friends in their pain," he added.
"From the Cuban Olympic Committee we accompany in their feelings to family and friends of that baseball great who was Giraldo Gonzalez, whose death shakes us this Saturday," tweeted the head of that body, Roberto Leon Richards.
"It hurts to know that we physically lost Giraldo González. His career as an athlete and coach leaves an indelible mark, applauded by a people who always appreciated his modesty and dedication to the cause he defended," posted the Inder profile on that social network.
Gonzalez shined as a bullpen player for the Pinar del Rio and Cuba teams, standing out especially for his defensive skills, which made him one of the best exponents of that position.
