Cuban baseball strategy is validated at the grassroots level

Sancti Spiritus, October 21 (RHC/JIT)-- In keeping with the integrating essence that characterized its gestation, the strategy approved for the development of Cuban baseball is undergoing a first approach to its implementation from the grassroots level.

In the initial meeting, held in the capital of Cuba, the first vice president of Inder, Raúl Fornés Valenciano, recalled that the process was born from the broad popular consultation held at the end of 2019 and left 1,611 proposals.

Together with national commissioner Juan Reinaldo Pérez and other specialists, the executive explained that such criteria were grouped into eight areas and generated 63 actions, with emphasis on the temporal and generalizing dimension associated with the declared goals.

In presenting the results of the work carried out by the group of experts who made the document, presented in January 2020, a reality, Fornés emphasized that the limitations imposed by covid-19 did not prevent the methodological steps and the elaboration of normative documents.

He pointed out that in this sense, areas of high interest are identified such as sports reserve, talent selection, rescue of activists and coaches, creation of circles of interest of judges and referees and the revision of the schedules assigned to training sessions.

He added that the affiliation to the Cuban Baseball Federation, the strengthening of the competitive system, the correct exploitation of the strengths contained in the updated Inder-Mined agreement and the lack of implements and materials, with emphasis on the role of local productions in pursuit of massiveness.

"In addition, the estimated deadlines for the development or fulfillment of the plan at the different levels were established", he said before adding that from now on the check-up will be articulated in thematic visits and annual balance sheets of each province. 

His intervention was also tinged by the call to accelerate this work to the same extent that the nation assumes the new normality, based on the work of the different territorial directions of the sports organization and the discipline.

"It is clear that, beyond the economic support required by many of the conceived projections, among which other sources of financing are identified, it is necessary to accelerate those that are not conditioned to this reality", he emphasized.

He called for the permanent verification of the correspondence between the actions and the proposals made, in meetings of exposition and analysis, work tables by directorates and exchanges with the territories, considering the feedback to enrich the decision making according to the change of scenario.

The meeting, as will happen this afternoon in Ciego de Avila and in the coming ones, was complemented with the progress made by Sancti Spíritus at this stage, and a look at its conditions for the 61st National Series, which could begin in the third week of January 2022.
