8th Conference of Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sports

Havana, October 27 (RHC)-- Cuba ratified Wednesday its commitment to the fight against doping in sports and expressed its willingness to share experiences during the 8th Conference of Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sports, which is being held at UNESCO headquarters from October 26 to 28.

According to a note from the Foreign Ministry's website, Cubaminrex, the Cuban representatives highlighted the availability of a laboratory for anti-doping control certified by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

For more than 20 years, this Cuban institution has never lost its accreditation, in spite of having been subjected, like all sports activities in the country, to the consequences of an economic, commercial and financial blockade unjustly imposed by the United States, the Cuban delegation pointed out.

In spite of the intensification of this policy during the pandemic, which has caused the laboratory work to be carried out under very difficult conditions and at a very high cost, due to the difficulties in acquiring reagents and spare parts to keep the technology up to date, Cuba offers its solidarity aid.

Cuba participates as a member state of the Convention, with a delegation integrated by members of the Permanent Mission to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), Cubaminrex points out.
