Havana, November 29 (RHC)-- Cuba's men's team won the title of the Antonio "Tony" Morales International Fastpitch Softball Friendship Cup held in Cartagena de Indias.
According to Maikel Ibarguen Shueg, national methodologist of this sport, Cuba lost 0-3 to Colombia in the pending game of the qualifying phase, but then beat the same rival in the final of the tournament.
Cuba defeated Colombia with a comfortable slate of 11-3. The victory went to Alain Román, who struck out 10 times. International players Yurisamdre Ramos and Yesander Rodríguez hit home runs.
The most outstanding offensive player in this game was Wilfredo Sánchez, who batted 3-3 with three RBIs. The MVP of the tournament was Roger Rosete, who compiled an 18-7 average of 388 with nine RBIs and a home run. Shueg said that the tournament served as preparation and scouting for the opposition.
