Havana, December 20 (RHC)-- Norway won the 2021 women's handball world championship, overcoming a French lead in the second half of the final match.    The Norwegians have won a World Cup after 16 years of waiting and with this victory they have won their fourth World Cup title.

It was a final with plenty of excitement. The Olympic champions took an early lead over the Nordic team, European title holders.

It seemed that the match was going to the French when they went to the break with the dream of closing a great year, after the gold in Tokyo they looked destined to climb to the top of the podium at the Palau d'Esports de Granollers, Barcelona.

However, the Nordic team had a different plan and managed to turn the score around and lift the championship trophy with a 6-17 lead in the last part of the match.

Goalkeeper Solberg seemed to multiply in front of the Norwegian goal while Reistad scored six goals for the champions.

At the end of regulation time, the scoreboard showed an unobjectionable 22-29 that made the virtual champions celebrate with anticipation.

Earlier, the Danes prevented the Spanish organizers from winning a medal and defeated them for the bronze 35-28.
