Real Madrid vs Barcelona

Havana, January 13 (RHC/PL)-- Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 3-2 in extra time and advanced to the final of the Spanish Super Cup, with its 100th victory in these classics.

The Merengue side took the lead in the 25th minute of the first half through the most productive duo in Europe, Karim Benzema with an assist to Vinicius for the 1-0.

Before the break, Luuk de Jong equalized for the Azulgranas in the 41st minute, in a play with some luck.

The second half of the match gained in intensity and chances for both teams and Real Madrid again took the lead on the scoreboard, this time with a goal for Benzema in the 72nd minute.

When it seemed that Los Blancos would win in regulation time, Barcelona found the equalizer again, this time through Ansu Fati (83), who returned from injury for this match.

The first of the two extra periods saw Madrid take the lead for the third time in the match, this time through a counterattack in which the Uruguayan Federico Valverde scored the 3-2.

With a heart-stopping final minutes in which Barcelona had at least two chances to equalize and Madrid had at least two chances to score, Los Merengues achieved the success that puts them in the final of the Spanish Super Cup against the winner of the match between Athletic Club de Bilbao and Atlético de Madrid.

The duel also had a special significance as it was the 100th victory of the Whites over the Azulgranas in the history of the matches between the two teams.
