Havana, May 14 (RHC)-- The Industriales baseball team defeated Artemisa by a score of 10-9 at the 26 de Julio stadium, and became the sixth team to qualify for the postseason of the LXI National Baseball Series.

In the postponed game of the qualifying phase, the capital's Leones were able to count on the batting of their left fielder Ariel Echevarría, who went 5-3 with a home run and two runs batted in.

The Industriales' 40th win, with 33 losses, was the third for reliever Cristhian González, who pitched 4.1 innings at a rate of two hits and a pair of strikeouts. The Cazadores hit 15 hits and left 14 runners on.

Meanwhile, in the other duel of the day, Mayabeque (40-31) moved one step closer to becoming the seventh team to qualify for the post-season with an 8-4 victory over Las Tunas.

For the Huracanes, the young right-hander Marlon Vega, who allowed only five hits and fanned three opponents to reach eleven wins and equal in that department with José Ramón Rodríguez from Camagüey, was the outstanding reliever. Mayabeque thus reached its 40th victory of the tournament.

The third of the 11 postponed games will be played today. At the Julio Antonio Mella stadium, Las Tunas (42-32), which dropped to third place, will face Mayabeque again.
