Havana, July 5 (RHC)-- The Santa Clara baseball team travels today to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on behalf of Cuba, to participate in the Caribbean qualifiers for the Little League of Children's Baseball.
José Yadián Ganuza, director of the team, said that "we are going to the event with the objective of qualifying for the world tournament and winning the title, because it would be a gift for the Cuban people".
The roster of 14 players in the 11-12 years old category will take part in the event between the 6th and 10th of this month, after qualifying by defeating the Granma team in the national final.
The tournament will be held in a round-robin double round-robin system in two groups, between two teams from the host country and Curaçao, in addition to one per capita for Cuba and Aruba.
The winners of each group will meet in a final that will qualify the winner directly to the World Series to be held in the United States.
