Havana, July 20 (RHC)-- The president of the National Institute of Sports Physical Education and Recreation (INDER), Osvaldo Vento Montiller and Alvin Botes, deputy minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, on an official visit to Cuba, held a dialogue on Tuesday on issues of mutual interest, including cooperation in the field of sports.

In his Twitter account, Vento Montiller described as excellent the meeting at the Sports City Coliseum in Havana, headquarters of the institution.

The Jit newspaper said that the meeting was attended by the South African ambassador to Cuba, Yvonne Nkwenkwezi Phosa, along with other diplomats and Botes' advisors.

Both sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in disciplines such as boxing, athletics and others, and reviewed organizational details of the Race for Mandela 2022, to be held this July 30 in Havana.

The South African Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation was received the day before by Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas, in a meeting that coincided with the commemoration of Nelson Mandela International Day, in honor of the birth of the South African leader.
