Robiel Yankiel, champion of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, dominated the long jump in the T-47 category with a mark of 7.37 meters and as reported to JIT by methodologist Reynaldo Palma, Savón won the 100 meters (T-12) with 11.22 seconds.

On Saturday morning the two-time Rio 2016 Paralympic Games champion had registered 11 flat in the semifinals of the hectometer, an instance in which fellow sprinter Raciel Gonzalez (T-46) scored 11.24 seconds in the same distance.

Later in the evening, he completed the fastest event in athletics with 11.21 seconds and brought another gold to the Island's team.

National team debutant Felipa Hechavarría (T-47) won the long jump with 5.20 meters and Yorisan Monterrey threw the golden discus to 41.28 meters in the F-43 category.

Another new addition to the group, Daniel Milanés, won in the 400 meters of the T-47 with 51.59 seconds and the experienced Ulicer Aguilera (F-13) won in the javelin with 54 meters.

The Mexican event, which for the first time hosts an event included in the grand prix circuit, is attended by more than 200 competitors from 15 countries and its participants will be able to accumulate points for the ranking that will offer places to the Parapan American Games of Santiago de Chile 2023 and the Paralympic Games of Paris 2024.

Cubans already participated last June in the International Parathletics Tournament of Tunis 2022, in which they also shared points for the aforementioned ranking.
