Osvaldo Vento
Havana, December 12 (JIT) - The president of INDER, Osvaldo Vento Montiller, ratified the existing will to achieve better results in baseball, the Cuban national sport.
This concluded his speech at the session of the Health and Sports Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power, which devoted its second topic this Sunday to the assessment of the new baseball development strategy.
Vento considered crucial the improvement of the Physical Education subject, particularly the teaching of baseball as a class subject.
In this sense, he assured that the great challenge is to make our national sport attractive to children, which starts with a good class.
He insisted on the importance of the scientific and methodological work of the cloisters, as well as in the work of the provincial commissions of Physical Education, whose analysis must be deep and contributing.
He recognized that the selection of talents for sports continues to be fundamental, in view of the complex demographic dynamics of the country.
Regarding the implementation of the new baseball development strategy, the head of Inder commented on the complexity of the context in which it is taking place, marked by the COVID-19, the deepening of the U.S. government blockade, the global economic crisis and the political and ideological subversion.
In the debate, Raúl Fornés Valenciano, first vice-president of INDER, recalled that the baseball strategy is integral and involves almost all the agencies of the central administration of the State and the provincial governments and enterprises.
He also commented on how the new forms of management will reach sports facilities, particularly baseball, in order to increase revenues and allocate them to the development of the sport.
In this line of thought, he referred to the deepening of activities such as sponsorship, advertising and the sale of image and broadcasting rights, based on the framework offered by the imminent social communication law.
Fornés Valenciano also referred to the priority that should be given to the attention to the family and the formation in values of children and young people, as an effective antidote to avoid the desertions of the delegations abroad.
The meeting began with the presentation of the baseball strategy and some of its first impacts by Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, national commissioner and president of the local baseball federation.
Several deputies referred to the role of Physical Education, the need to revitalize inter-school events, the rescue of facilities in the communities and the local production of means and sports equipment, among other issues.
