Portuarios and Agricultores today, in first round for the Elite League crown
Bayamo, January 14 (PL) - The teams of Portuarios and Agricultores will hold this Saturday the first clash for the scepter of the First Elite League of Cuban baseball, in a maximum of seven games.
Owner of the lead since the beginning, the eastern troop - which includes players from Granma and Las Tunas -, arrives to the discussion of the throne with one more day of rest, better results in the regular phase and the favor of its public at the Mártires de Barbados stadium in Bayamo.
Inspiration and grit play an important role in the playoffs, but if the Portuarios - with players from Industriales and Mayabeque - take a success from their trip to Granma it is already to throw flyers.
Agricultores has a terrifying batting lineup and what seemed their weakest link, pitching, was at its best in the semifinals against Tabacaleros.
In the qualifying phase, Agricultores defeated Portuarios in seven of the 10 games played, and in the semifinals they swept Tabacaleros 4-0.
In theory, the only place where Industriales and Mayabeque can take advantage against Agricultores is in the relief corps, but for that, the starters have to contain that fierce offensive team, plagued with dangers from the first to the last bat.
This Saturday begins this movie, the great final of the I Elite League of Cuban baseball, and in a few days we will know if there will be a miracle or if logic prevails.
The champion will defend the colors of Cuba in the Caribbean Series in February in Venezuela.
