LeBron James

Los Angeles, February 8 (PL) - The sports universe is giving LeBron James a standing ovation after surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's 38,387 points and becoming the all-time leading scorer in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

"The King" left behind Abdul-Jabbar's mark to magnify his legacy and fill with more glory a career with a past in Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat until the feat achieved tonight dressed in the purple color of Los Angeles Lakers.

At 38 years of age and after 20 seasons in the number one league on the planet, the American forward achieved the feat in the 12th minute of the third quarter when time stopped and the former holder of the first championship, another symbol of the Californian team, handed him the basket.

Since April 1984, Abdul-Jabbar had in his possession the record that many considered "impossible" and that illustrious players such as Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant could not even reach, despite their excellent careers in the North American circuit.

The current Crypto.com Arena -formerly Staples Center stadium- vibrated with every basket of the four-time champion of the tournament: 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2020, who, in addition, has six runner-up finishes and a quartet of MVP awards in the regular season and finals.

It is worth noting that -this time- James has now broken the total regular-season record, since February 2022, when he was already crowned as the NBA's all-time leading scorer in the playoffs, after surpassing the 44,159 units of the charismatic center with the glasses.

Although the duel against the Oklahoma City Thunder continues in the aforementioned multipurpose space, family members, basketball figures and celebrities from the artistic world have already congratulated the "King" on one of the most magical nights of his life.
