Havana, May 22 (Jit) - Cuba's Yenifer Rivera and Amanda Armenteros finished in fourth place in the third stop of the Norceca Beach Volleyball Circuit, based in the Cayman Islands.
Rivera and Armenteros started Sunday's day surprised in the semifinals by Guatemalans Natalia Giron and Estefanie Bethancourt, winners in two sets. That failure deprived them of the chance to challenge for the gold medal.
Coach Alain Hernandez regretted the outcome considering that on Saturday the Cubans had defeated Mexico's favorite duos, including Atenas Gutierrez and Abril Flores, champions in Aguascalientes during the first phase of the Circuit, 2-1 in the quarterfinals.
In the dispute for the bronze medal, the Cubans lost to Canada's Ruby Sorra and Lea Monkhouse with a score of 21-19 and 21-18.
