Havana, September 9 (ACN)-- The Fide America team fell this Friday to China and said goodbye to the Women's World Team Chess Championship of Bydgoszcz 2023, in Poland.

Despite two draws on the main boards, by Cuba's Lisandra Ordaz and Peru's Deysi Cori, the Americans did not get the win they needed to try to stay alive in the quarterfinals of the competition.

Lisandra made peace on the first table against Yuxin Song, while Cori was undefeated against Yang Shen, in a series in which the other two American players conceded.

The Paraguayan, born in Cuba, Jennifer Perez, lost to Kaiyu Ning and the Argentinean Maria Jose Campos bowed her king against Qi Guo, which left the victory of the Asians sentenced with a score of 3-1.

Fide America also counted on the contribution of Cuban Yerisbel Miranda in the tournament, who played in the playing room on three occasions and agreed a couple of draws, in addition to falling on one occasion. Ordaz played a leading role in four games, with one win, one draw and two losses.

The team coached by Argentinean Claudia Amura accumulated three lost matches and two draws in the preliminary stage of group B, in a tournament that gathered 10 of the best teams in the world.

The United States (7 points), Poland (7), China (6) and Germany (4) won the four places in that section, while in Group A the teams of Kazakhstan (9), Georgia (7), France (5) and Ukraine (5) survived the cut.

The top four teams in each bracket will begin the battle for the medals this Saturday in direct elimination matches.
