Havana, January 14 (RHC)-- The Sancti Spíritus team is the virtual champion of the 60th edition of the Playa Girón national boxing tournament, with 17 victories and the largest representation tomorrow Sunday in the final card (7).

This Saturday, in the second semifinal card, the espirituanos scored six victories, added to the one achieved yesterday by Frank Cleger (48 kgs), in the first semi-final round.

Among the winners of this day is the world runner-up Saidel Horta (57 kgs), who had to use his jab combined with straight and swinnes to defeat Yosiel Despaigne (SCU) 5-0.

Erislandy Alvarez (CFG, 63), also a world silver medalist, will try to retain his 2022 title tomorrow, after defeating Reinier Herro (MAY) 5-0, who closed his exits and hit him with a lot of hooks and cross punches. He will face Rogerlandy Delis (CAV) for the gold medal.

Sancti Spíritus will be followed by Cienfuegos (16 and four finalists) and the monarch Camagüey (12 and three men in search of the scepter).

For the Agramontinos, the five-time world champion and double Olympic title holder Julio Cesar La Cruz (92 kgs), who will go in search of his thirteenth title in national tournaments in Playa Giron, which would equal the record of Felix Savon. (Source: ACN)
