Havana, February 12 (RHC) - Cuban swimmers have so far had discreet results at the World Aquatic Sports Championships, held in Doha, Qatar.

This Monday, Andrea Becali placed 31st in the 100 backstroke with 1:04:22 min, and on the 16th she will compete in the 200 of the same style.

Meanwhile, in the 400 freestyle, Elisbet Gámez, the best Cuban swimmer in recent years, placed 25th with 4:19:91 min.

Cuba's best performance in the world championship took place in artistic swimming, where the mixed duet of Soila Carelys Valdés and Andy Manuel Ávila, placed ninth in the final of the free routine.

The Cuban couple had been finalists in the Budapest 2022 edition.

Now in Doha another Cuban qualified for a final, Andy Manuel in the men's solo free routine.

In diving, Prisis Leidys Ruiz had an outstanding performance in the 3m springboard, finishing in 16th place (13th in the classification), which virtually guaranteed her an Olympic ticket for Paris-2024.

Likewise, in trampoline, Anisley García finished in 20th place and in her favorite modality, the platform, she ranked 19th, thus virtually qualifying for Paris, although the official lists of FINA, the International Federation, are still pending.
