Havana, June 12 (PL).- The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz came from behind in the final of the 2024 French Open Tennis Tournament and won 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 at German Alexander Zverev, to continue making history despite his young age.

With the title won at the tournament, also known as Roland Garros, he became the youngest player to win grand slam titles on all three surfaces: clay, hard court and grass.

At 21 years old, he is the seventh player to achieve that milestone, along with the Spanish Rafael Nadal, the Swede Mats Wilander, the Swiss Roger Federer, the Serbian Novak Djokovic and the Americans Jimmy Connors and Andre Agassi.

The previous record rested in the possession of Nadal, who had achieved the feat at the age of 22.

Days before, Alcaraz had become the youngest tennis player to reach the final of a “major” on all three surfaces.

He also has an impressive record of effectiveness, as he won the three finals that he has played in tournaments of the highest demand worldwide: the United States Tennis Open 2022, and Wimbledon in 2023, in addition to Roland Garros.

And not only is his versatility to win competitions on any type of court impressive, but also his high efficiency that has led him to lift 14 trophies after 18 finals played.

With this victory, in addition to entering the history books and confirming that a promising future awaits him, Alcaraz established himself as the present of this sport.

He now occupies second place in the ATP rankings, behind the Italian Jannik Sinner - his victim in the semi-finals -, who dropped Djokovic from the top.
