Havana, Jun 18 (PL) The Boston Celtics conquered the throne of American basketball in the NBA on Monday after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games, becoming the most successful team in history.

The green team from Massachusetts won the final 4-1 with scores of: 107-89, 105-98, 106-99, 84-122 and, in the final game, 106-88.

Thus, Boston won its 18th all-time crown and remained alone at the top of the list of all-time winners, ahead of the Lakers (17).

The Celtics won the title in 1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008 and now in 2024.

They had to wait a total of 16 years (2008-2024) to return to the throne of the competition, during which time they lost two finals (2010, 2022).

In the last game, Jason Tatum completed his masterpiece and confirmed himself as the undisputed leader of the team, scoring 31 points, collecting eight rebounds and dishing out 11 assists.

However, Jaylen Brown surprisingly won the Finals Most Valuable Player Award.

Tatum's and Brown's big men, as was the case throughout the campaign, were Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday, Al Horford and Derrick White, who perfectly complemented the odyssey.

Boston, in a mammoth campaign, accumulated 64-18 in the regular phase and 16-3 in the playoffs, for a fantastic balance of 80 wins and just 21 losses in the 2023-2024.

On the losing side, Luka Doncic signed legendary records with Dallas, but was cut short in his quest to win his first NBA crown.
