Havana, Jun 26 (RHC) - Several competitions have been announced for the main exponents of Cuban athletics in the coming days, in the final route towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The new confirmations will be in competitions in Spain, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, the Cuban Athletics Federation confirmed to the press.

The first to compete will be the pole vaulter Aslin Quiala, who will be on Saturday at the Spanish National Championships in Alicante, in search of a result that will make her move up in the qualification ranking for Paris.

On July 4 in Sotteville (France) will be the triple jumper Cristian Nápoles, the sprinter Yunisleidy García (100m), and Daily Cooper (800). Cooper was the last Cuban athlete to qualify for Paris last Sunday, when she clocked 1.58.61 minutes in 800m at the Puma meeting in Guadalajara (Spain).

Then, on July 7, the presence of Napoles in Hengelo, Netherlands, is confirmed, as well as the debut in the summer season of high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas, triple world finalist, already recovered from an injury.

On July 9, Roxana Gómez (400m), Silinda Morales (discus) and long jumper Alejandro Parada, also recovered from injury, will be in action in Malaga.

On July 13 it will be the turn of Rose Mary Almanza, who will go to Paris for her fourth Olympic Games, and will compete in Kortrijk (Belgium).

All the confirmed athletes are qualified by marks or almost assured by ranking for Paris-2024, with the exception of Quiala.

Other confirmations are expected to be announced for Olympic qualifiers such as Leyanis Perez, Lazaro Martinez and Liadagmis Povea.

So far Cuba has 10 athletes qualified for Paris 2024 athletics, although the number should increase before June 30, closing date of the qualifying period.
