Leñadores vs. Granma

Havana, July 17 (JIT) - Leñadores de Las Tunas came out on top in a game of pure hits and defeated Alazanes de Granma 18x15, to be one step away from reaching the final of the 63rd National Baseball Series.

After this victory, in their home stadium Julio Antonio Mella, the Tuneros have a 3-1 advantage, so a victory would catapult them towards the second consecutive dispute of the title on the Island.

In this fourth game, the numbers reflected on the scoreboard of the Julio Antonio Mella Stadium were far from what is expected in a semifinal. Between the two teams, they hit 41 hits, scored 33 runs and committed four errors, in addition to leaving 21 runners on the pads.

The Leñadores used seven pitchers and conceded six bases on balls, while the Alazanes used six, which sent eight opponents through the free path to the first base.

Las Tunas relied on the power of its sluggers, who hit three home runs, thanks to the swings of Rafael Viñales, Denis Peña and Roberto Baldoquín, the latter being the best hitter of the team by going 5-4 in the game, with four RBIs and three runs scored.

Ninth win of the season for Rubén Rodríguez and tenth save for closer Alberto Pablo Civil, the only one of the 13 participating pitchers capable of working solidly: 2.2 spotless innings with three strikeouts.
