Paris, Jul 25 (ACN) - The four Cubans who will compete in judo at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games already know the rivals they will face in their first bouts of the individual tournament, to be held at the Campo de Monte Arena, in this city, from July 28 to August 2.

According to the draw made this Thursday in the French capital, the first to step on the tatami will be Maylin del Toro, in the 63 kilograms, who will be in action on Tuesday 28 against Japan's Miku Takaichi, Olympic silver medalist in the previous edition of Tokyo 2020.

A difficult start for Maylin, since the Japanese also has two silver medals and two bronze medals in world championships.

Ivan Silva (90 kg) will follow on Wednesday, August 31, while Idalys Ortiz (over 78 kg) and Andy Granda (over 100 kg) will follow on Friday, August 2.

Silva, a 2018 world silver medalist, will debut against Erlan Sherov of Kyrgyzstan, owner of a 2024 orb bronze medal. 

Idalys, multi-Olympic medalist (1-2-1) and Cuban flag bearer at the inauguration along with boxer Julio Cesar La Cruz, and Granda, 2022 world champion, will have less complicated opponents in India's Tulika Maan and Marvin Gadeaau, from Monaco, in that order. 

The organizers announced that the individual judo tournament in Paris 2024 will bring together 378 athletes -192 men and 186 women- from 122 countries.

On August 3, the mixed team competition is scheduled for the 57, 70 and over 70 kg (f) and 73, 90 and over 90 g (m) divisions, without the presence of Cubans.
