Manchester City

London, Sep 12 (PL) The trial against Manchester City will begin next Monday, September 16, for 115 alleged infractions of the English Premier League soccer rules, according to media reports.

According to multinational broadcaster ESPN, City was referred to an independent commission for the alleged violations. The club is alleged to have breached rules relating to the provision of accurate financial information.

They also charge the club for allegedly breaching Europe's Financial Fair Play rules from the 2013-2014 to the 2017-2018 campaigns, and furthermore for breaching the Premier's rules on profit and sustainability between 2015 and 2018.

In a statement, the Manchester sky-blue team defended at length its financial performance and its innocence in the face of the large number of charges against it.

It is worth remembering that Manchester City is the great dominator of the English Premier League at present, winning the last four consecutive championships, something unprecedented in the history of the competition.

It also archives six titles in the last seven years, including one in the 2017-2018 campaign, the last one in which it allegedly committed infringements against the Premier regulations.

In the period analyzed by the complainants, City won the 2012, 2014 and 2018 leagues, in addition to several domestic titles, however, its big explosion at European level occurred with the arrival on the bench of Josep Guardiola in 2016.

Prior to the purchase of Manchester City in 2008 by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, vice president of the United Arab Emirates and member of the Abu Dhabi royal family, the club had won the Premier League just twice, in 1937 and 1962.
