Havana, Oct 12 (RHC) The world baseball5 crown has only one king, Cuba. Today the representatives of the largest of the Antilles defeated Japan in two sets (16-1 and 7-5) in the final of the universal tournament.

Thus, the Caribbeans retained in Hong Kong the title of the discipline, won two years ago in Mexico.

As fate would have it, the Cubans faced the representatives of the land of the rising sun for the second time in the tournament and in the history of the world finals. This time the success was even more comfortable than in the previous phase, because on that occasion the victory was achieved in three sets, being that lost set the only one the Antilleans have ever lost in the history of the World Championship.

Previously, Pablo Terry's students had defeated the teams of Lithuania, South Africa, Venezuela, and the host country in the qualifying round. Meanwhile, in the so-called Super Round, they defeated the Japanese, Mexicans, and French.

As expected, the team from the largest Caribbean island took home several individual awards, with Briandy Molina MVP (of the two world championships held) and Haila Gonzalez MVP among the ladies (it is worth mentioning that she also won this distinction in the youth event of Ankara 2023).

France won the bronze medal after defeating Venezuela in the first round in two sets.

Cuba holds all the universal titles in this discipline, since let's remember that the world junior crown also belongs to them. To make the feat more impressive, they have not yet known the shadow of defeat.

Undoubtedly, baseball5 has a worthy champion, the land that gave birth to it with the so-called four corners, which would later be modified for the genesis of this dynamic and inclusive modality.
