Cuban women to play in Concacaf U-17 tournament

FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Qualification

Havana,October 24 (JIT) - Cuba's U-17 women's national team will face Panama in an attempt to advance in the CONCACAF tournament.

The Panamanians look like the strongest rival in Group C, in which they were placed after the draw held in Miami. Guyana, and Turks and Caicos Islands complete the pool.

This event awards four slots for the Fifa U-17 Women's World Cup, which will be hosted by Morocco next year and will repeat as host nation until 2029.

The first phase of this competition comprises the participation of 22 teams divided into six groups as follows:

Group A: Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. 

Group B: Trinidad and Tobago, Honduras, Belize, and U.S. Virgin Islands. 

Group C: Panama, Cuba, Guyana, Turks and Caicos Islands, and Guyana. 

Group D: El Salvador, Guatemala, Curaçao, and Anguilla

Group E: Jamaica, Nicaragua, and St. Kitts and Nevis 

Group F: Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and Grenada. 

It will be held from January 27 to 31, 2025 in four venues: Puerto Rico will host the A teams, Trinidad and Tobago will host the B teams, Nicaragua will host the D and E teams, and the Dominican Republic will host the C and F teams.

The winners of each section and the two best runners-up will advance to the next round, where they will join the four top-ranked teams in the region (United States, Mexico, Canada, and Haiti).

This stage comprises a format of three groups of four players each, from which the three winners and the best runner-up will be guaranteed a ticket to the World Cup.
