The ones led by former star outfielder Ermidelio Urrutia left alone in 3rd place with 22 and 12, after breaking the tie with Pinar del Rio, which was winning Ciego de Avila 2-0 when the game was sealed in the 5th episode.

Matanzas reached 20 wins this Season, with the shadow of 16 setbacks, and took an important step to classify after beating Industriales 9-4, with success for opener Irandy Castro and Onel Vega's offensive role, who hit a homer and drove in 3.

Outfielder Francisco Tellería made a long home run and drove in 4, supported by Orlando Roa's solo homer, to lead the 10-3 Cienfuegos triumph over Camagüey, with credit for the veteran Norberto Gonzalez.

Villa Clara also overcame 2-1 to Santiago de Cuba to keep its dreams of classifying with win of rookie Reinier Sanchez and offensive role of Andy Sarduy, 4-3, with 1 double and 1 RBI.

Finally, Mayabeque won Artemisa 2-0 in a duel of teams discarded without any transcendence for classification.

So, Ciego de Avila continues to lead with 27 and 9, escorted by Industriales (24-13), Las Tunas (22-12), Pinar del Río (21-12), Granma (22-14), Havana (21- 16), Matanzas (20-16) and Guantanamo (19-17).

Then go Cienfuegos (17-17), Isla de la Juventud, Sancti Spiritus and Villa Clara (18-19), Santiago de Cuba (14-23), Camagüey (11-26), Artemisa (9-25) and Mayabeque (6-30).

Finally, it was announced that pitcher Joel Suarez will return to the mound in the next round after a recovery period of more than 12 months after a surgical procedure known as Tommy John, on this throwing arm.

Marabana 2015

More than 4000 runners from home and abroad are already registered for the traditional Marabana 2015 race, the main marathon in Cuba.

According to organizers, the official registration will close soon and domestic and foreign competitors must confirm their participation, in addition to define the distances to run.

With a foreign participation record of over one thousand runners, the United States with 474, followed by Mexico, Germany, Italy and Denmark with 50 each, figure among the nations with the largest number of contestants to take part in the event scheduled for November 15th, when Marabana will again be a huge international event.
