La Paz, March 3 (RHC) -- Four people were killed and 60 more injured when a footbridge collapsed during the opening of the Carnival of Oruro on Saturday. According to an official report on Sunday, three of the four killed were musicians and the other one was a female fan.
The injured are being treated in four hospitals in the city. At a press conference held in La Paz, Carlos Romero, Minister of Interior, said the footbridge was especially built for the carnival's opening and "collapsed because of overloading."
In a public address on Sunday, Bolivian President Evo Morales' also expressed his sincere condolences to the victims' families.
