Washington, DC, May 16 (RHC)-- On Wednesday, the day before U.S. police and Secret Service raided the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, DC and illegally removed peace activists inside the diplomatic mission, civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson and others delivered food and supplies to those inside.

The activists, from the Embassy Protection Collective, were inside the embassy for over a month to prevent the seizure of the building by supporters of the U.S.-orchestrated coup.

An observer at the embassy said that the right-wing supporters of Juan Guaido attacked Rev. Jackson as he was delivering the supplies. But their efforts failed and the food made it inside to the embassy protectors.

The Embassy Protection Collective is calling on all peace and social justice organizations and people from all over the United States to join together this coming Saturday, May 18th, for a massive mobilization in Washington D.C. at the Venezuelan Embassy.

The Embassy Protection Collective said that a right-wing mob has laid siege to the Venezuelan Embassy. The electricity has been cut off and the water turned off. And many people attempting to take food to the activists barricaded in the building have been violently attacked and even arrested.

According to reports from Washington, the Secret Service and the D.C. Police Department -- under orders of the Donald Trump administration -- have created a humanitarian crisis in the heart of the U.S. capital, at a diplomatic compound that is protected by the Vienna Convention.

Momentum is building all over the country in defense of the Embassy Protection Collective and in opposition to the Trump administration's lawless attempt to seize the embassy, property of the Bolivarian Revolution.
