New York, September 16 (RHC)-- Seventy-six protesters with the Close the Camps campaign were arrested in New York City during a sit-in at a Microsoft store.  The immigrant rights activists are demanding Microsoft stop allowing ICE to use their technology.

An organizer from Movimiento Cosecha said in a statement: “In an Era of Big Tech, where our movement and community have seen terror, trauma, and separation, these companies saw a business opportunity.  After Palantir, Microsoft is the second largest cloud service provider for the U.S. Federal government.”

Meanwhile, a previously confidential Department of Homeland Security report revealed the ICE-run Adelanto immigration jail in California places an “alarming” number of migrants with serious mental illness in solitary confinement for “shockingly” long periods of time.  The 2018 report was obtained by the organization Project on Government Oversight through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit.
