Washington, March 19 (RHC)-- A U.S. federal judge has blocked a Trump rule that would have thrown 700,000 people off of food stamps, known as SNAP, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.  The rule would have required affected recipients to work at least 20 hours a week in order to qualify for food stamps beyond the first three months.

U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell wrote: “[A]s a global pandemic poses widespread health risks, guaranteeing that government officials at both the federal and state levels have the flexibility to address the nutritional needs of residents and ensure their well-being through programs like SNAP, is essential.”
