Caracas, June 29 (RHC)-- The members of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA-TCP) will relaunch the ALBA Food program to meet the needs of the countries of the region, according to a virtual meeting of the organization on Monday.

During the virtual joint meeting of the Ministerial Councils of ALBA-TCP, Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza said that the organization will reactivate ALBA Food, which ranges from seeds to fertilizers, food and food distribution.

The Venezuelan diplomat said that this proposal is to attend to the situation that has been registered during the COVID-19 pandemic, where the most vulnerable population has been affected.

He recalled that the scourge of the virus has a fundamental consequence on food production and consequently on the nutrition of the people where the most vulnerable are in a difficult situation.

The Venezuelan foreign minister explained that plans have already been designed for the agricultural reactivation of all the member countries of the regional organization in order to assist the hardest hit nations, including those of the Caribbean, which depend on tourism activity, which has been slowed down to a halt by the spread of the virus.

The meeting was held in response to an agreement adopted at the High-Level Conference on Economy, Finance and Trade, held on June 10th.
