Caracas, October 4 (RHC)-- The Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, denounced this Sunday that "fictitious authorities" are issuing documents and carrying out consular procedures in the name of the State for Venezuelan citizens who are in Brazil.

In an official statement released to the international community and the Venezuelan people by Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza, the authorities denounced the "fraudulent activities of an alleged consular nature, carried out by persons who intend to usurp the legitimate Venezuelan consular service," the text adds.

In this sense, the document states that information has been disseminated in Brazil, "with the unusual consent of the Government," that supposed days of consultation have been carried out by fictitious personnel without the support of the Venezuelan State.

"Reference is made to the information recently disclosed in the Federative Republic of Brazil, which announces, with the unusual consent of the Brazilian government, some alleged consular attention days in charge of fictitious authorities without any endorsement or contact with the Venezuelan State institutions, which lack the authority to issue or alter legal documents," the statement states.

In this manner, from Venezuela, they alert the citizens that are in Brazil and that have come in "good faith" to the mentioned days that the documents obtained in the processing will be considered "null and void."

The communiqué of the Venezuelan government warned that the alteration of documents, as well as the falsification of official seals, are typified as a crime, not only in the Venezuelan legal system, but internationally.

For this reason, persons who facilitate falsifications, as well as those who make use of such altered documents or falsified seals, may be penalized by law, regardless of nationality or the place where they were issued.
