Miami, December 25 (RHC)-- U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would be working “tirelessly” for Americans at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida over Christmas, but instead he went golfing.  As he traveled to his holiday resort on Wednesday, the White House announced that the Republican president would work "tirelessly" for Americans.

"As the Holiday season approaches, President Trump will continue to work tirelessly for the American People. His schedule includes many meetings and calls," the White House said as it released Trump's daily schedule.

On Thursday morning, however, he went to his golf club in West Palm Beach, marking his 317th day visiting a golf course as president.  Although Trump, during his 2016 campaign, said that he would "rarely leave the White House," he has spent nearly a year on the golf course as the president.

The outgoing president had a busy Christmas doing a range of things that raised eyebrows from bringing the COVID-19 aid bill into question to pardoning war criminals and dubious friends, and to vetoing the annual defense bill.  In other words, he caused chaos in the nation's capital, skipped town, and headed off to work on his drive as the commander in chief.

Now, the fate of the COVID-19 stimulus bill is in limbo after Trump, in a surprise move on Tuesday, pressed Congress to dramatically alter the coronavirus and government-spending package, which was passed by wide, bipartisan margins on Monday.

The aid package includes urgently needed assistance for Americans who have been badly affected by the pandemic.  Millions have lost their jobs in 2020, and with unemployment benefits enacted under an earlier relief package being set to expire this weekend, making another package available is absolutely vital for the country's economic recovery.

As the incumbent is spending his final days in office, he is giving Americans a sense of uncertainty, including about whether he will concede to President-elect Joe Biden and commit to a peaceful transfer of power.

Trump says widespread electoral fraud has taken place and has tried in vain to overturn Biden’s victory in the November 3rd presidential election, pressing state officials, lawmakers and governors to throw the results out.
