Mexico City, June 2 (RHC)-- Mexican authorities report that they began delivering mechanical respirators to Latin American countries, in order to contribute to the care of people infected with COVID-19.   The Ministries of Foreign Affairs (SRE) and National Defense (Sedena), as well as the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (Amexcid) indicated that 10 nations in the region will benefit.

The countries that will receive these medical instruments are: Belize, Bolivia, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Dominican Republic, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago, the agencies said in a joint communiqué.

On Monday, Belizean authorities were the first to receive the mechanical respiration devices, produced in Mexico, for the treatment of people affected by Covid-19, added the SRE.  With this cooperation, which is part of the Mesoamerica Project, Mexico joins international efforts to address the emergence of new waves of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infections.

"These medical devices are the result of the efforts of various Mexican institutions that, with the support of the private sector, contributed their capabilities to produce them and provide an exceptional response to an emergency situation," the agencies stressed.
